Chromosomes vs. Chromatids
- Hi, I’m getting really confused- what is the difference between chromosomes and chromatids? Are chromosomes always arranged in pairs- if so then when they undergo mitosis why do they only then seem to go into pairs to split!! Sorry I’ve just always been confused about this!!

Chromosome are made up of two identical structures called the chromatid. No chromosomes aren’t always in pairs only during the notification cycle, because during DNA replication each DNA molecule makes an identical copy of itself and each strand is found in each chromatid that are bonded together by the centromere.
